Description, Concept and Objectives
The Civil Association Luz del Ibirá promotes environmental education through various approaches: scientific research via a Science Club, the recovery of the nutritional and cultural value of wild and non-conventional edible species, and environmental advocacy through the organization of the International Environmental Fair Ecociencias.
Activities
-Organization of the International Environmental Fair, held for nine editions.
-Construction of the first Sustainable Classroom for Environmental Education in Argentina.
-Development of a Wetlands Inventory for the city of Concordia.
-Execution of internationally relevant environmental research projects.
Difficulties
Funding remains a constant challenge; most projects are sustained by the personal resources of the association’s members. Additionally, certain initiatives that challenge political interests—such as the proposal for an Agroecology School at the secondary level—have been blocked by the relevant authorities.
Future Challanges
We continue to pursue the Agroecology School project, now reimagined as a Science Club focused on research and environmental projects. We are currently working on water sanitation initiatives near Lake Salto Grande. We also remain committed to the recovery and promotion of wild and non-conventional nutrients.
